Non-Executive Chairman for a development stage consumer product venture

Kokoon Technology is a UK crowd and incubator backed venture which is developing the world’s first sleep sensing headphones.

Following an introduction by its incubator, Breed Reply, Spectrum was retained by Kokoon’s CEO & Co-Founder, Tim Antos, to search for a Non-Executive Chairman.

The role of the appointee would be to provide strategic advice, guidance, and challenge to the founding team as it navigates through the key stages of successfully launching a consumer technology product to the global market.

Spectrum conducted an international search which focussed on board and executive leaders from consumer product technology businesses. The candidate shortlist subsequently comprised both very high profile corporate executives, and those with a strong entrepreneurial and start-up pedigree.

The selected candidate, Dr. Najam Kidwai, is based in Dubai, and is an active board member of – and advisor to – a number of businesses worldwide including InJoo, Mio Global and 23&Me. As Non-Executive Chairman at Kokoon, Najam will attend a monthly board meeting in London whilst providing additional active support remotely.

Daniel Osmer, Spectrum’s Managing Partner said:

“Sleep has developed as an investment category in its own right, and it’s always exciting to conduct searches at the forefront of technology – and particularly so for UK companies which develop physical product.

Kokoon has also successfully utilised pretail techniques to test and prove consumer demand for its products. The focus now is on product launch. The right Non-Executive Chair adds tremendous value to high-potential ventures, and we are delighted that Naj has joined Kokoon to provide his experience and advice to the team as it develops”.

Working with Daniel was fantastic. He quickly understood our requirements and located some extremely high calibre individuals who were well vetted and suited for this very key role in our business.
