Barclays’ Fast Growth Tech survey highlights importance of strong leadership

Barclays’ Fast Growth Tech survey, which questioned owners and CEOs of UK tech firms, has revealed that many of the industry’s bright lights are feeling confident about delivering a stellar year of growth with the UK’s tech businesses set to grow four times faster than GDP in 2015. Four fifths (79%) of all the firms surveyed asserted that strong leadership was at the heart of their growth in 2014.

But, for the first time, an empirical study that measures CEO optimism, through option exercise decisions and earnings forecasts, shows that boards can exploit the very common human bias of optimism to negotiate lower compensation packages for CEOs.
